Very funny new post on the Stuff White People Like blog – all about the grand sport of rugby.
I know nothing about rugby, and though white, can’t honestly say that I like it. It’s weird though, because I do have this feeling that I would be much cooler if I did like it or understand the rules or whatever. So, I would like to like rugby.
Besides Buck, the only other person I’ve ever known who played rugby was this girl named Kylie. Kylie was a teenager who worked as a counselor at the summer camp I ran two years ago. Kylie drove a lifted Jeep Wrangler with the bumper sticker: Be Kind to Animals – Kiss a Rugby Player. Kylie looked kind of like Paris Hilton, except she talked a lot about “scrums.” Not sure what that is.
At any rate, here’s to Buck – I hope he scores lots of scrums at his next round of New Zealand rules rugby tournament matches.
Perhaps someday I will become one of these:

Zach,
Thanks for the Rugby recognition… it really is a great sport. I truly believe it is the best developmental sport for kids… teamwork, hand and feet skills, running (like a half-marathon a game), accomplishment (scrumming, rucking, line-outs, try’s, and the kicks) and the agressive nature of the game.
As to the “white” -ness of the game… I don’t know. You will have to come check out a game. It is a complex and dynamic game, but you don’t have to understand all of it to enjoy watching it.
Go Burlington Rugby!!!
